Leadership Program
CIT (Counselor-in-Training) Program
Our CIT Program gives campers ages 15–18 the opportunity to develop leadership and life skills through hands-on experience. CITs learn to build positive relationships, navigate conflict, and mentor younger campers while making a meaningful contribution to the French Woods community.
Through mentorship, feedback, and practical experience, CITs begin to see camp through the eyes of a leader. Along the way, they gain confidence, strengthen their sense of responsibility, and discover how their actions can positively influence those around them. Hours spent serving as a CIT also count toward community service.
CIT Retreat
Traditionally held at French Woods over Memorial Day weekend, the CIT Retreat brings CITs together for a fun weekend of learning, connection, and personal growth.
Sessions explore topics such as homesickness, bullying, and leadership, helping CITs prepare to support younger campers and handle challenges with confidence and care. With plenty of time for group activities, making friends, and having fun, the retreat is a chance to build lasting connections and get excited for the summer ahead.
HFWAA & the CIT Retreat
Your participation in the CIT Retreat helps young artists follow their dreams. All funds raised through retreat registration fees go directly to HFWAA’s scholarship fund, supporting young artists with financial need as they pursue careers in the arts.
